Unit 7

I had a difficult time with this meditative practice. I was able to picture a wise man at first, but then at times he would disappear. This also made it difficult to imagine the white light. This exercise was quite long as well which made me get a little distracted towards the end.

I absolutely believe in the saying “One cannot lead another where one has not gone himself”. If someone doesn't truly experience something, how can he or she teach it to someone else? As for health and wellness professionals, no matter how much education you have on a specific topic, I believe the only way you can understand what someone else is going through is to first go through it yourself.

  1. Kayla,

Leading people into healthier lifestyles is my goal. I have already begun by teaching some small group fitness classes. I believe your statement, it is difficult to teach someone health if you are not experiencing it. I typically work with overweight and obese clients because I used to be obese. I feel like we relate better to each other for it.

I also agree that the meditation exercises can be challenging, maybe you can find some other form of mindful practice that suits you better. Just don't give up!
